Chris Gaffey tells stories. After studying graphic design and advertising Chris began his career storyboarding commercials. Following 15 years as an award-wining Art Director and Creative Director, he slipped into the director’s chair when no one was looking and has continued his graft and craft there since, creating over 200 films over 13 years for international brands and screens of all sizes.
Chris has shot for Adidas, Sony PlayStation, Team Wiggins, Hyundai, Chevrolet and Manchester United. He has filmed in Europe, Africa, North America and Australia. His polished work often combines live action performance with CG animation, VFX and Motion GFX and his broad technical experience encompasses hi-speed, aerial and VR cinematography. But Chris’s particular area of expertise is directing professional athletes, kids and animals; winning the untrained actor’s trust and putting them at ease on camera.
Chris takes no joy from anything done half-hearted and enjoys constant motion. When he’s not shooting sport, he watches it from the terraces and then watches it again when he gets home. On Sundays, he likes to endure abusive weather and mental torture as a RFU qualified colts rugby coach. Chris’s favourite things are Northern Soul, talking and drinking. Ideally all at the same time.
